Precocious and brilliant son of  Medaglia d'Oro. Out of MG1SW &  $3.3Mill Broodmare Dream Rush. Half  brother to Dreaming of Julia (G1).

Stonestreet Stable’s Homebred ATREIDES, royally bred stakes winning son of Medaglia d’Oro out of MGSW and producer Dream Rush, retires to Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm

Lexington, Kentucky “This is a coming home for us and we couldn’t be more excited,” said John G. Sikura. “We launched Medaglia d’Oro’s career at stud and were co-owners of Dream Rush. I love everything about this horse, just watch his race replays and you know he is a star. Along with Stonestreet homebred Maclean’s Music, I believe we have two brilliant young sire prospects and I am appreciative of the confidence Barbara has shown by partnering with us in making these stallions. We will support Atreides with top mares from both our programs.”

Barbara Banke, owner of Stonestreet adds, “Atreides showed pure brilliance and represents the very best of our breeding program. Dream Rush is one of the leading young producers in America today. A multiple Grade 1 winner herself, from her first three foals we have G1 winning Dreaming of Julia, Atreides and the exciting recent maiden winner Perchance. And we are of course partial to Medaglia d’ Oro because of Rachel.”

“This was one fantastic racehorse with looks, talent, physique and pedigree,” says John Moynihan, bloodstock agent for Stonestreet. “In addition to the ability to carry his speed over a mile, he has the conformation and pedigree to suit many mares.”

A son of Medaglia d’Oro, the dark bay Atreides made his debut in July 2014, where he won at first asking by 5 ¼ lengths earning both a 105 Beyer Speed Figure and TDN Rising Star status. His final time of 108.69 was .57 off the track record for 6 furlongs at Gulfstream Park. He following that victory with a three-length allowance win at 6 ½ furlongs, posting a 102 Beyer. Atreides won his stakes debut in the Monarchos S. by an astonishing 17 ½ lengths, posting a 105 Beyer while winning geared down. His 4 ½ length victory in the Aventura Handicap kept his unbeaten record at Gulfstream intact but unfortunately a tendon injury forced his retirement to stud.

Trainer Marty Wolfson remembers Atreides as the fastest and most talented colt he has trained. “He could sit and wait or go to the front any time he wanted, he had the kind of speed superstars have. He destroyed fields and was absolutely a horse with G1 ability. While I am sad he retires prematurely I look forward to training offspring of this super talented horse.”

Atreides will stand for $5,000 live foal
